Opera Mini 5.1 – Special update for low-end phones

The most popular browser “Opera Mini” which can be found in almost all phones has just got updated to version 5.1 from version 5.0 (the biggest update). If you happen to be a Smartphone owner or a high-end device owner then you need not to rush to get this update.

This time the update is aimed to improve the internet browsing experience on low-end phones as Opera says the update is “highly recommended” for users on Nokia S40 devices like Nokia 5130 XpressMusic, Nokia 6300, Nokia 2700 etc and on Sony Ericsson phones (small screen) like the K550i and W810i.

In technical terms this update is for low end devices that have a screen resolution lower than 200 pixels or low memory capacity (4 MB+-), then you will also receive a new optimized skin which will allow you to have a smoother multi-tab experience and scrolling. So the users can expect “out of memory” messages to be disappeared forever.

Also Opera Mini 5.1 has got a new shortcut key through which you can easily switch from/to mobile view (*0). On most of the low-end devices Opera Mini 5 was lagging particularly during scrolling, the new update fixes that also.

Opera-Mini-5.1-3000-phones“The goal with Opera Mini is to make the Web available to anyone, anywhere, regardless of where they come from or the handset they have,” says Lars Boilesen, CEO, Opera Software.According to Opera “More than 61 million people on over 3000 devices have chosen to surf the Web with Opera Mini for fast and easy Internet access at a considerably lower cost.”

Opera Mini 5.1 is available for download, simply visit http://m.opera.com/ from your phone.
